Wendy Charters
As the youngest in a family of European artisans, I saw how creativity, talent & effort can feed a family . . . and a community. As an employment counsellor here in the '90s, again surrounded by artists, we applied this same principle in creating the Coast Cultural Alliance.
Whether in in our human natures, or pursuits and adventures in community, or in the natural evolution of our forests, rivers & mountains, creativity has always been a source of great delight and curiosity for me.
Opening to my own joy of dabbling in the visual representation of this delightful adventure came late & as something of a surprise however. While I have known many wonderful artists over the years & continue to be the grateful recipient of their teachings, my first teachers were indeed my father, mother, & siblings. I currently enjoy painting in acrylics as they are patient & forgiving, as are my lovely painter friends.
The influences of my family and partner are also revealed in a propensity for incorporating houses, cars, and other things mechanical in my art.
